Over the past few weeks I’ve had family and friends reach out to me about my upcoming trip to Europe. My parents want me to cancel everything, my friends suggest traveling to different locations, and I just want to go ahead with my current plans. Everyone is offering their opinions because of the CoronaVirus panic.
Some of my friends have gone as far as completely cancelling their travel plans, which were set for the next two months. We all have choices to make and if they believe cancelling their travel plans is right, then it is the right thing for them to do.
I do, completely, understand what is happening is a very serious situation. It’s contagious and spreading. I feel that as long as I’m healthy and very aware, I will be okay. I did initially have plans to go to Italy this Spring, but that was cut out of my itinerary before there was even a case in Milan.
I always make sure to wipe down my seat on the airplane, train, or bus. I’ll continue to do so, and I’ll also make sure to wash my hands more than usual. As I’ve told my parents, I will continue to travel. This current health climate is being carefully watched, but this doesn’t mean I will stop what I love doing and succumb to living in a bubble for the foreseeable future.
I don’t know if I’ll regret it later, but this is my position on traveling at this time. Many will not agree with me, and that is okay. Everyone will react differently. I’m kind of excited to see how traveling environments will be different with Corona Virus altering Hospitality businesses and airlines reaching out to customers to ease any worry surrounding air travel. I did receive an email from Delta yesterday letting us know that they’ll step up their sanitary/cleaning efforts between and during flights to make sure everyone is safe. It will be interesting to see what other precautions are being taken, and I’ll be sure to share what I witness during my upcoming trip!
If you’ve traveled recently and have any thoughts on the current situation, please be sure to share with me and everyone else who reads this! The more info, the better! Don’t forget to follow the blog for more updates.
